The Heart of Southern Vermont’s Arts Scene

At the heart of Southern Vermont’s arts scene is the venerable Weston Playhouse.  In 1935, while the Great Depression was raging, Weston-born architect Raymond Austin was putting the finishing touches on a playhouse as testament to the community’s belief in the arts. Home to the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company, the Playhouse welcomes locals and visitors to enjoy world-class musicals and dramas throughout the summer theatre season; opera, juried arts and crafts shows, and special events and concerts throughout the balance of the year.

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company

World-Class Theatre at The Weston Playhouse
Weston Playhouse, Weston, VermontVermont’s oldest professional theatre company presents a summer season of thrilling musicals, breath-taking dramas and compelling new works on two distinct stages. The Playhouse is home to its major MainStage productions. The Rod and Gun Club is home to its OtherStages program.

While the talent and artistry on Weston’s stages comes straight from New York, Chicago and other renowned theatre hubs, the work is distinctly “home grown.” Weston’s Producing Directors craft each season for a discerning and enthusiastic regional audience. Each show is rehearsed and produced right in the tiny village of Weston. The actors, creative team and technical crew that gather in Weston each summer create a special community of artists. The theatre company has garnered the attention and acclaim of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Playbill, The BBC, Variety and countless others. In recent years Weston has expanded its reach by playing an important role in the development of new plays and musicals for the American theatre. With deep roots in its Vermont community, Weston continues to extend its branches into the theatrical firmament.
