Golf & Summer Activities

Vermont has been known for its skiing, but it is also a great summer activity hence the name Green Mountain State. The town of Weston is smack dab in the middle of the lower half of the state of Vermont which puts it close to these six major resorts:  Okemo Mountain Resort, Bromley, Stratton, Magic Mountain, Killington, and Mount Snow. Weston has a variety of activities that can attract just about any person to the area. Weston can offer a craft show about once a week, to hiking a beautiful mountain, to canoeing and swimming a close by scenic lake. The close by resorts offers distinct activities that will keep everyone interested. Weston has a hometown feeling that makes you feel like you grew up here. The people wave to you from the porch and friendly passerby’s say hello. The Weston Village can provide a true Vermont experience that many small towns cannot offer.

 

Stratton Resort

Located in Bondville, Vermont this world class resort has different activities for all ages. There are activities for the whole family or for an adult outing. Activities ranging from golfing to tennis to paintball are for any age. Stratton also has classes to learn these activities. A great place for a family outing, Stratton provides concerts and different events on weekends. They also have gondola rides and bike tours available. Stratton has a swimming pool which is great for beating the summer heat. Also for the adults there is a gym and yoga training facilities. The mountain also offers a range of options for every meal. Bromley Mountain

Located in Peru Vermont, Bromley Mountain has 3 different parks within the property. Mountain Adventure Park has a wide variety of rides and activities for every age to enjoy. Kids can enjoy bouncy houses and Kidzone for the littler kids. Everyone can enjoy chairlifts, miniature golf, wall climbing and many other activities. Bromley has a variety of big swing rides, water based rides, and interesting bike flying rides. The mountain is known for the Sun Mountain Flyer, which is a half mile long zip line that will bring excitement to any rider. A newer part of Bromley is the Aerial Adventure Park. There are five rope courses through the trees that will give you a bird’s eye view of park. Bromley has an ice cream parlor, a café with great food, and a bar that the adults can relax at. Bromley is full of fun that will expand your excitement to new heights. Open Sunday to Saturday from 10:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Magic Mountain

Located in Londonderry Vermont, Magic Mountain was born more than 50 years ago, but now had transformed with every generation. Magic is a very active mountain with people hiking the mountain and exploring off the ski trails.  The mountain has an activity for all called Timberquest. Timberquest is a tree to tree obstacle course that will have you hanging on like a squirrel. Throughout the course zip lines will change the pace of the course to give you a bird like experience. Once all the heights are out of your system you can stop in to the Black Line Tavern for a nice meal. You will get a local experience of the close town Vermonters. Stop by to experience the active Magic Mountain, which are open 10:30a.m. – 5:00p.m. every day of the summer.

Okemo Mountain Resort

Located in Ludlow Vermont, Okemo Mountain Resort offers 650 acres of beautiful terrain and activities to go along with every inch. Kids to adults will love this mountain from the wide range of activities. Adults can work on their golf on two championship golf course. The adults can also be active by playing tennis, basketball, disc golf, working out in the fitness center, and relaxing in the spa. The younger kids will love the wide range of fun things to do from the zip line to the Mountain Coaster to wall climbing. The kids can also wind down with miniature golf and relaxing in the pool. Every age will enjoy the unique tours on a Segway or on a zip line. This energetic mountain is open in June on Fridays from 4:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Also they are open in July and August every Saturday to Thursdays at 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and Fridays at 10:00a.m. to 8:00p.m.

Killington

Located in Killington Vermont, Killington Resort offers a four season destination that sits on 3,000 acres in the heart of the Green Mountains in Central Vermont. The Resort boasts more than 70 miles of diverse terrain spread across six peaks and offers an expansive lift network and active things to do every mile. To get to the top of the mountain you can take a nice relaxing gondola ride. For the active persons a scenic hike to the top might be just as relaxing. Now for the adrenaline people there are a mountain bike trails that will be an eye opening experience. If you relax playing golf, they have a championship golf course that is a hole in one. Everyone needs to eat, so there is a choice between the Umbrella Bar & Deck that has live music, but they are only open Friday to Sunday. The Clubhouse Grill is open daily and has indoor seating, but the outdoor sitting has spectacular panoramic views. The mountain has great food no matter where you sit. Everyone will enjoy the Killington Mountain, even the pets! This mountain is pet friendly so don’t forget EVERY member of the family. Killington is open in the summer every day from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.

Mount Snow

Located in southern Vermont in West Dover, Mount Snow is the most accessible Green Mountain getaway from southern metropolitan areas. Found on Route 100 (nine miles from Route 9 in Wilmington and 29 miles from Interstate 91), Mount Snow is the only place in North America where you will find a high speed detachable six passenger bubble lift. The seven minute ride from base to summit is so smooth the only reason you would want it to end is so you can enjoy nice hike down one of Mount Snow’s 80 trails. While staying at Mount Snow if parents want a nice day out on the golf course, the kids can enjoy a day at Kids Camp doing crafts, swimming, hiking, cooking, or other activities. There is also a Miniature Camp for children the ages of 6 weeks – 4 yrs. old. There the kids can do crafts and play in the ideal childcare facility. Don’t forget to eat at one of the 3 food stops. Fairways Restaurant provides a great view of the golf course. Harriman’s Farm to Table Restaurant & Bar provides a great meal and super service. If you’re on your way to leave, stop in at Grand Country Deli & Café and pick up a quick snack for the road.
